Constructed in stainless steel, our coif is free of the maintenance problems associated with mild steel versions. The 1 cm. diameter rings are formed from 1 mm. (0.04") wire, for a weight of approximately 2.2 Kg. (4.75 lbs.).

The unpolished stainless steel links provide the ultimate in corrosion protection and are fully riveted for strength, authenticity and wearer comfort. The combination of the sword and buckler (hand-cup shield) was extensively used during the Middle Ages. Typically, bucklers are small hand shields that are held by a fist-grip and are quit maneuverable. They can be used to deflect blows or deliver punches. The Buckler (AH2263) can also double as a shield boss.

Our Gauntlets (AH1220) are fully articulated and made in 18 gauge steel, measuring approximately 12 3/8" long. Normally worn over leather gloves, the gauntlets are attached by leather straps. The rolled cuffs avoid the possibility of arm abrasions. Although they do not have the separate finger slots they do provide full protection of the hand as in the days of old. One size fits all.
