 Imperial Forge is a forge that believes in quality over quantity. Their blades are individual hand forged with a machine hammer, then formed with a hand held hammer, clay tempered, heat treated, quenched in water and then polished by skilled hands creating a true authentically made, fully functional, battle ready, affordable Japanese sword. At the Imperial Forge, there is a true desire in producing the perfect katana, with a team of craftsmen and artisans who excel at the occupation they are skilled in. Their smiths worked at several different forges and then came together to form a forge that prides itself on excellence by combining all their knowledge together.
There is a true love and ambition in their work, which reflects in the quality and beauty of our hand made Japanese swords. The Imperial Forge prides themselves in the quality of their work and will not compromise quality or performance of their katana just to sell more swords.
 The Imperial Forge makes Spring Steel (1050), and Folded Steel (1050/1060) blades to cater to all of the Martial Arts community. Their Forged Spring Steel Katana prices start at just $499 making them very affordable and a great value for a hand forged sword. For those of you that want the very best and most traditionally made sword the Imperial Forge also makes a Folded Blade model starting at an unbelievable low price of $999. Which ever blade you choose you can be sure that it will still have the awesome cutting power that every Marital Artists expects.
 The Imperial Forge is able to keep the cost of their katanas down by having their fittings machine made. This is very common with many forges, like Paul Chen and Cold Steel. The functionality of the sword is in the blade and not in the fittings. Imperial Forge has a very nice looking katana, but is does not have the expenive decorative fittings you will find on the Paul Chen Bushido or Orchid katana. Imperial Forge's tsubas and habaki are made with 100% brass, not soft iron. They use only genuine white rayskin and black cotton to make their tightly wrapped tsuka ito. Only the fuchi and kashira are machine made from black iron. Their katana, wakizashi and tanto are all full tanged and double pegged.
It takes time to hand forge blades of this quality and this is why our Imperial Forge Sword Collection is more difficult to acquire.
